Janusz Reiter

Janusz Reiter ( born August 6, 1952 in Kościerzyna ) is a Polish diplomat, German scholar and publicist Kashubian origin. Reiter worked 1990-1995 as Ambassador of Poland in Germany and 2005-2007 as Ambassador to the United States.

After graduation rider studied in the 1970s in Warsaw German. He completed his studies with a dissertation on Hermann Hesse. In 1977 he began working as an editor for the Polish newspaper Zycie Warszawy. After the imposition of martial law in Poland in 1981 by General Wojciech Jaruzelski published under pseudonyms rider political articles and participated in the work of various political opposition groups. In this work, he met the future prime minister Tadeusz Mazowiecki know who appointed him after he took office in 1989 Ambassador of Poland in Germany. As ambassador, he worked in Bonn from 1990 to 1995. In 1996 he founded the Center for International Relations in Warsaw and has worked as a commentator for the daily newspaper Rzeczpospolita.

On 3 October 2005 he was sworn in as Poland's ambassador in the United States. End of October 2007, he resigned from this office. He currently advises the Polish government as climate ambassadors. He is also a member of the Supervisory Board in the energy group Vattenfall.
