Business

JCB was founded in 1961, in 1972 the one millionth card was issued. First JCB was only represented in Japan, was opened in 1981, the first overseas branch in Hong Kong. After it was allowed in 1982 by a banking reform law the Japanese banks, including himself by issuing credit cards (until then they had this need to set up their own subsidiaries that could be no banks ), JCB began to issue its cards about franchising partners. They had already consciously decided last year against a co-operation with the industry giants Visa and MasterCard, which has proved to be the right decision, as all other Japanese suppliers of own credit aufgingen over time in the context of cooperation in these and only as brands lead a niche.

JCB cards are accepted by some eleven million locations in 189 countries. Focuses on regional Asian countries Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, Thailand and Singapore as the U.S. space. In Europe, JCB cards are so far mostly only in international hotels, with vendors of high-priced luxury goods and in places that are often visited by Japanese tourists, such as Rothenburg ob der Tauber and Munich accepted. In the fall of 2011, however, the German banking industry announced to distribute as part of a partnership with JCB their product in conjunction with girocard future in Germany.
