Japan men's national ice hockey team

The Japanese national ice hockey team of the men taking part since 1930 world championships, 1936, the first participation at the Olympic Games. Since the 1960s, the Japanese shuttled between the World Cups of the B and C group. From 1998, the Japanese were set as the Asia representative in the A group. This was repealed in 2005. The Japanese selection occurred when Germany Cup 2006 in Hanover and finished the tournament as the last. In the IIHF World Ranking, the Japanese team after the 2012 World Cup is the 22th rank.

Besides the Kazakh national ice hockey team is considered one of the best Asian Hockey Nations 2007 and could get the gold medal at the Asian Winter Games. At the Ice Hockey World Championship for Men 2013 Japanese team in Group A of Division I behind Kazakhstan, Italy and Hungary, was fourth.

The Japanese national ice hockey team of women has already participated in the first World Women's Championship in 1990 and regularly commutes between the A and B groups. Reached in 2007, the women at the Division I World Cup at home to promotion back to the A- group from which they were relegated in 2004.
