Japan Restoration Party

Nippon Ishin no Kai (Japanese日本維新の会, dt about " meeting the renewal of Japan " - in German media often referred to as "Japan's rebirth ," and including " Party of the restoration of Japan ", a "Party to restore Japan's" - engl. Japan Restoration Party ) is a political party in Japan. It was founded in September 2012 by the regional party Osaka Ishin no Kai by Tōru Hashimoto, former governor of Osaka and acting mayor of the city of Osaka, along with deputies in the national parliament.

In November 2012, the party Taiyo no Tō ("Party of the sun", " sunrise party", engl. ) Shintaro Ishihara and of Takeo Hiranuma for the upcoming election in 2012 of the Nippon Shūgiin Ishin no Kai joined. After the merger, Ishihara took over the party chairmanship, Hashimoto Vice-Chair ( Daihyō Daiko ) and Takeo Hiranuma the presidency of the General Assembly of the members of the two chambers of the national Parliament ( Kokkai Giin -dan daiyhō ). At the same time she gave for the upcoming election announced 47 candidates, but wants to nominate more. Ishihara is only in the proportional representation block Tokyo, not run in a single constituency. The party was able to form even before the election their own group as nine MPs defected from other parties to it.

The orientation of the party 's nationalist, it is characterized as populist and as a protest party. The position on major policy issues is internal party dispute. While Hashimoto advocates phasing out nuclear power, regionalization, free trade and tax increases, Ishihara sat hitherto on Reusing the Kernergie, economic protectionism and lower taxes.

The Shūgiin - election in 2012 ended with mixed success: Of the 300 constituency seats the Ishin no Kai won with nationwide less than 12 % of the vote, only 14, of which twelve in the prefecture of Osaka and none in the prefecture of Tokyo. Very successful was the choice for the 180 proportional representation seats, there was the Ishin no Kai, with around 20 % of the vote the second largest party, winning 40 seats.

Since January 2013, Ishihara and Hashimoto share as co-chair ( Kyodo Daihyō ) the party chairmanship.

For the 2013 Sangiin - election the party wanted to work more closely with the Minna no Tō - at the 2012 Shūgiin - election, the parties had many of their candidates support each other, but were in some places against each other. After the statements Tōru Hashimoto in May 2013 about the forced prostitution for the military in the Pacific War ( " comfort women " ) announced on the Minna no Tō cooperation plans. On 21 May 2013, the Shugiin MPs Shingo Nishimura was expelled from the party because of his statement that there were " schools of South Korean prostitutes in Japan".
