Japanese Grand Prix

In Grand Prix of Japan is understood, apart from the motorcycle races, primarily the Formula 1 race, which took place for the first time in the seasons 1976 and 1977 at the Fuji Speedway in Shizuoka Prefecture in Japan. Previously, however, other automobile races had been held since 1963, this predicate, about sports cars, first in Suzuka, then in Fuji.

From 1987 to 2006, the Japanese Grand Prix was regularly held annually at the Suzuka International Racing Course near Suzuka in Mie Prefecture ( Fuji Television Japanese Grand Prix).

1994 and 1995 were two Formula 1 races held in Japan. These additional race was held on the Aida under the name Grand Prix of the Pacific Tanaka International Circuit.

In the 2007 season, the Japanese Grand Prix was again carried out on the fully renovated Fuji Speedway. As of 2009, an annual exchange with Suzuka should take place, which was announced at a press conference the FIA ​​prior to the Italian Grand Prix at Monza on September 8, 2007. However, the Toyota Group, operator of the Fuji Speedway, announced on 7 July 2009, no longer discharge the Japanese Grand Prix, due to financial difficulties. Since 2009, the Grand Prix of Japan, therefore, will take place again at Suzuka.
