Japheth Kimutai

Japheth Kimutai ( Japheth Kimutai Butia; born December 20, 1978 in Lelmokwo, Nandi District ) is a former Kenyan middle distance runner, who specializes in the 800 -meter distance.

1994 in Lisbon, he became Vice Junior World Champion.

In 1998 he won at the African Championships in Dakar and at the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur. The following year, he finished fifth at the World Athletics Championships in Seville in 1999 and won at the Pan-African Games in Johannesburg.

At the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000 he reached the semi-finals. He was fifth at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester in 2002, 2003, he retired at the World Championships in Paris / Saint- Denis in the semifinals.
