Dscharābulus (Arabic جرابلس, DMG Ğarābulus, in English Jarabulus ) is a city in the province of Aleppo in northern Syria. Dscharābulus lies on the Syrian- Turkish border to the Turkish city Karkamış on the left bank of the Euphrates, which is further impounded by the dam was completed in 1999 Tishrin south. From the border crossing between Karkamış and Dscharābulus the highway 216 leads south to Manbidsch. The city is also known in the local Arabic dialect Dschrāblos. The city has a mixed population of Arabs, Kurds and Turks. It is located in a culturally and historically very old region. Archaeological sites nearby are Carchemish on the Turkish side and Jerablus Tahtani between the city and the Euphrates. Both localities show that the area of Dscharābulus has been inhabited since the Chalcolithic period. The place was a crossroads of important trade routes along the river, economically and politically favored by the location on the edge of a fertile plain with access to resource-rich mountain regions.

Dscharābulus has long been a part of the Ottoman Empire. During the early 20th century, the railway station was built Djerablus the Baghdad railway between the towns Dscharābulus and Karkamış under German planning in 1913. South of the railway bridge, a road bridge over the Euphrates River was built at the same time.

With the First World War, the Arab provinces seceded from the Empire.
