Jarana Jarocha

The Jarana Jarocha is a kind of small guitar from Mexico.

The Jarana Jarocha comes from the region of Veracruz, Mexico. Traditionally the instrument is carved in the shape of a small narrow guitar with wooden pegs from one piece of wood, but now it is built composed like other guitars. They are available in different sizes. The eight strings are divided into five choirs, played in various moods, often GCEAG.

The Jarana serves to accompany the Son Jarocho; it is not plucked but struck.
