Jared Huffman

Jared Huffman ( born February 18, 1964 in Independence, Missouri) is an American politician. Since 2013 he represents the state of California in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Jared Huffman attended William Chrisman High School and then studied at the University of California at Santa Barbara political science. At that time he was also a successful volleyball player. In 1987 he was a member of the U.S. national team, which was then topped the world rankings in the sport for seven months. After studying law at Boston College and his 1990 was admitted as a lawyer, he began to work in this profession. He specialized in consumer protection issues. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career. Between 2001 and 2006 he was a board member of the water district in Marin County; 2006 to 2012 he sat as a deputy in the California State Assembly.

In the congressional elections of 2012, Huffman was in the second electoral district of California in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Wally Herger on January 3, 2013. He reached a vote share of more than 70 percent over his Republican opponent Dan Roberts.

Huffman has repeatedly called for action against global warming.

Jared Huffman is married and has two children. Private family lives in San Rafael.
