Jared Staal

Jared Staal ( born August 21, 1990 in Thunder Bay, Ontario ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey forward who is since 2010 when the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League under contract on their farm team, the Charlotte Checkers, playing in the American Hockey League.

Career

Jared Staal played from 2006 in the Canadian Junior Football League Ontario Hockey League with the Sudbury Wolves. In his first season scored only two goals and an assist, and a playoff goal. With the Wolves, he failed in the finals of the OHL playoffs to the Plymouth Whalers and thus narrowly missed a place in the Memorial Cup final. In his second year he was able to increase significantly, scoring 21 goals and prepared 28 more ago. However, the team was unable to repeat the performance of last year and missed the playoffs.

After the end of the season was selected in the second round at position 49 Jared Staal from the Phoenix Coyotes in the NHL Entry Draft in 2008. He is the only one of the Staal brothers, who was not gedrafted in the first round and the team plays in the Western Conference.

2008/ 09 season, he continued to play for the Sudbury Wolves, who were able to increase again and Staal drew on the achievements of the previous season. After the Wolves had failed in the first round, took him to San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League in their squad, which occurred as a farm team of the Phoenix Coyotes. In May 2010, the Phoenix Coyotes him transferred in exchange for a fifth round selection in the NHL Entry Draft Law 2010 on the Carolina Hurricanes. A day later, he signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Canes.

The 2010/11 season he joined their farm team in the AHL Charlotte Checkers, for which he completed twelve games and scored one goal. Subsequently, he was sent to the Florida Everblades in the ECHL.

Family

Jared Staal comes from a hockey family. His three older brothers, Eric, Marc and Jordan have already been drafted between 2003 and 2006 by NHL teams each in the first round. Eric and Jordan in second place in their respective age group and Marc in twelfth position. Eric won the 2006 with the Carolina Hurricanes to the Stanley Cup and is still active for them, while Jordan has won the team of the Pittsburgh Penguins to the Stanley Cup in 2009 and is also active with the Carolina Hurricanes and Marc, who runs for the New York Rangers.
