Jaromír Nohavica

Nohavica ( born June 7, 1953 in Ostrava ) is a Czech songwriter.

Nohavica wrote at the beginning of his career songs for Czech singers. 1982 persuaded him friends even perform with his songs, and he became one of the most popular performers of the Czech music scene. Nohavica plays guitar and accordion. He wrote over 400 songs. In addition to his own texts he translated the songs of Leonard Cohen, Bulat Okudzhava, Boris Vian and Vladimir Vysotsky into Czech. In 2002, the fictional documentary film Year of the Devil, who became one of the most popular Czech films of recent years.

Nohavica is married and has two children.
