Jaromír Vejvoda

Jaromír Vejvoda ( born March 28, 1902 in Zbraslav, † November 13, 1988 ) was a Czech composer. He became world famous through his Polka Rosamunde ( original: Škoda lásky ).

Life

Vejvoda continued the musical tradition of his family. At the age of 6 years he learned to play violin, with 14 years he dominated the flugelhorn. The following year he became a member in the band of his father, of which he took over after his military service itself. He lived in Teplitz, most recently in Prague. Vejvoda has three sons, Jaromír, Jiří and Joseph. All three began with music, but ultimately only occurred Joseph in his father's footsteps. His granddaughter is actress Zuzana Vejvodová.

Works

He wrote 82 compositions, including in 1927 his most famous, the polka Škoda lásky ( German: Pity about the love). Only in 1932 was the Czech text and 1934 by Klaus S. Richter, the German version Rosamunde, which has become an international evergreens. Other ( excerpt):
