Jaroslav Hřebík

Jaroslav Hřebík (born 16 December 1948 in Benešov ) is a former Czech football player and current football coach.

He is regarded for his methods and his character as one of the most controversial coach in the Czech Republic. At the same time he was one of the first who propagated the Zonenverteidung and other innovations of modern football.

Playing career

Hřebík played in his youth for Jawa Týnec, at the age of 20 he moved to Viktoria Zizkov. In early 1974, has been committed by Dukla Prague, for whom he debuted in the first Czechoslovak league. After a year he moved on to league rivals Škoda Plzeň, for whom he scored four goals in two years.

From 1977 to 1982, the striker played for Spartak Vlašim BS, 1982, he went to his hometown Benešov, where he was player-coach in the 1983/84 season. His career was Hřebík of 1985 to finish 1988 at TJ Jílové.

Overall, the attacker played 22 games in the highest Czech league, where he scored four goals.

Coaching career

After his first experience as a player-coach in the 1983/84 season at ČSAD Benešov Hřebík was head coach for the same, in the meantime renamed FK Švarc Benešov club and rose with him in 1994 in the first league. A year without a club coached Hřebík 2000/ 01 FK Jablonec, he also led court Twelve. It was the summer of 2001 coach of Sparta Prague, with whom he reached the second round in the Champions League.
