Jaroslav Pouzar

Jaroslav Pouzar ( born January 23, 1952 in Čakovec, Czechoslovakia ) is a former Czechoslovak ice hockey player.

Career

Jaroslav Pouzar played in the first twelve years of his career in Czechoslovakia when the engine České Budějovice. During this time he was six times World Cup, will join the twice in the Olympics and also twice in the Canada Cup Squad of the Czechoslovakian national team. He clocked up 186 caps and was with Czechoslovakia Olympic silver medalist in 1976, as well as world and European champions in 1976 and 1977. Was only in NHL Entry Draft 1982, he was pulled in the fourth round at a total of 83 out of the Edmonton Oilers. In his first three years there won Edmonton twice (1984, 1985), the Stanley Cup. He was the first Czech Stanley Cup winner.

For the 1985/86 season he undertook the then Bundesliga club ECD Iserlohn. After his second year in the Sauerland he went back for the final stage and the play-offs after the NHL Edmonton and promptly won a third time the Stanley Cup. In the following season, 1987/88, the striker moved to the bankruptcy of the ECD Iserlohn to the Sports Federation Rosenheim. Until his retirement in late 1992, he played with the exception of season 1990 /91 ( Augsburger EV) only when SB Rosenheim.

2004 Pouzar ill with leukemia. After a bone marrow transplant, he has won the battle against the disease.
