Jaroslav Soukup

Jaroslav Soukup ( born July 12, 1982 in Jičín ) is a Czech biathlete.

Jaroslav Soukup lives and trains in Jilemnice and starts for SKP Jablonex. It operates since 1999 Biathlon, since 2004 as a member of the Czech national squad. The coach of the gym teacher is Ondrej Rybár.

His international debut Soukup at the Junior European Championships of 2000 in Zakopane. In the individual he was there in sixth, with the season he won the bronze medal. Far less successfully ran for him the Junior World Championships this year in Hochfilzen. The following year he won in Haute Maurienne at the Junior European Championships again the bronze medal in the relay. The Junior World Championships in Khanty-Mansiysk ran again but only moderately, best result here was a tenth season space. 2002 could debut in the Biathlon World Cup Soukup in a relay race in Anterselva. However, it was for a long time his last appearance at the highest international stage of the biathlon, the next few seasons he continued to perform at Junior World and European Championships and the European Cup. The Ridnauner Junior World Championships 2002 he was able to achieve better rankings and won with the relay even the silver medal for the first time. His European Cup debut was in Obertilliach as tenth in a single race. The highlight of the season was again the Junior World Championships in Kościelisko where Soukup won bronze in the relay. In the subsequent European Junior Championships in Forni Avoltri he finished seventh in the sprint, fifth in the pursuit and won with the relay, which also included Michal Šlesingr and Ondřej Moravec, the gold medal. At the same place he started in the summer of the year at the Junior World Championships in the summer biathlon. Here he was tenth in singles and sixth in the relay.

2004 debuted Soukup in a sprint race in a World Cup individual race in Pokljuka ( 74 ). His season highlight was the participation in the European Championships in Minsk, where his best finish was a ninth place in the individual. In the summer he joined Osrblie on at the Summer Biathlon World Championships and finished ninth in the pursuit and fourth in the relay. He was particularly effective at the World Championships the following year in Muonio. After a fourth place finish in the sprint he won bronze in the pursuit, silver in the mass start and gold in the relay. At Holmenkollen in Oslo, the Czech was able to gain World Cup points in 19th place in the pursuit of the following season for the first time. In the 2006 European Championship in Langsdorf, he won gold in the sprint for the first time a single title. At the 2006 World Championships in the summer biathlon in Ufa, he again won a silver medal with the team. In the 2006/07 season the athlete could also increasingly celebrate success in the European Cup. In Östersund, he was 18th in an individual, in Hochfilzen, he could be 15th in the sprint and fourth in the relay. Season's highlight was participating in the Biathlon World Championships 2007 in Antholz, where he achieved as a best finish 32nd in the sprint. At the European Championships in Bansko Soukup eventually went on to win a silver medal behind Tomasz Sikora in the sprint. In the 2009/2010 season Jaroslav Soukup succeeded in single Antholz than 4 for the first time into the top ten. Jaroslav Soukup took part in the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. His best result was the 30th place in the individual. With the season he was ranked 7th to kick off the World Cup season 2011/2012 in Östersund occupied Jaroslav Soukup after 7th place in the sprint in pursuit of rank 3 and was thus the first time on the podium. At the World Championships 2012 in Ruhpolding Soukup won the bronze medal in singles.
