Jaroslav Tůma

Jaroslav Tůma ( born 1956 in Prague) is a Czech organist.

During his studies at the Prague Conservatory and at the Academy of Performing Arts in Milan Slechta and Zuzana Růžičková he drew attention to himself at international competitions.

Among his greatest achievements include each of the first prize at the organ and improvisation competitions in Nuremberg in 1980 and in Haarlem in 1986. Moreover, he received awards in Linz in 1978, the Prague Spring in 1979 and at the Bach Competition in Leipzig in 1980. During 1990 until 1993, Jaroslav Tuma on the complete organ works of Johann Sebastian Bach, for which he was awarded the annual prize of the Foundation "Czech Music Fund ".

Since 1990, Jaroslav Tuma teaches at the Music Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague.
