Jasenica (Negotin)

Jasenica ( serb. Јасеница / Jasenica ) is a village in the Opština Negotin and the District of Bor The village lies on the River Jasenická Reka. The village's name is eponymous for the name of the river.

History and name

Jasenica is mentioned for the first time in 1530. At that time the village had 30 houses. The next time the village was in 1736 under the name Esenica, 1784 mentioned as Jasenicza. The current name was established in the 19th century.

According to the 2002 census (self- nomination), there were 581 inhabitants.
