Jason Arnott

Jason William Arnott ( born October 11, 1974 in Collingwood, Ontario ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who during his career for the Edmonton Oilers, New Jersey Devils, Dallas Stars, Nashville Predators, Washington Capitals and St. Louis Blues in the National Hockey League played at the position of the center.

Career

Jason Arnott was drawn in 1993 NHL Entry Draft in the first round in seventh place of the Edmonton Oilers. Jason is like most center very much like his body, and thus creates a lot of space for his teammates; that he also has a very good vision, makes him one of the strongest center in the league. His only weakness is probably his susceptibility to injury, because until now he could fully play through any season. This, however, depends more with its aggressive sport together, because he is not afraid of body contact and like someone once checked against the boards.

Arnott had in his first NHL season 1993/94 to a fantastic start, came right on 33 goals and 68 points, a very considerable achievement of rookies, and was elected to the All- Rookie team NHL. The only negative point was the 104 penalty minutes. He played for the Oilers still further three and a half years, but he came through some injuries no longer approached the 68 -point mark, but he still played very good seasons as in the season 1995/96, as in 64 games he hit on 28 and 59 points came. This year, he also had himself under better control and remained first among the 100 hurdles with 87 penalty minutes. While the NHL 1997/98 season he was traded to the New Jersey Devils. He played very well even with the Devils and could finally gain experience - right play-off. For the Devils to Arnott could continue to perform well; that he is now one of the strongest centers in the NHL, he was an impressive show in the playoffs in 1999 /00 when he was involved with eight goals and 20 points in 23 games instrumental in the Stanley Cup victory. In the following season, he scored even more points than games for the first time and, at 59 points in 58 games.

During the 2001/ 02 season, he made ​​the jump to the Dallas Stars. After slight teething problems he played in the 2005/06 season arguably his best season so far, as he set a personal record in matches played, goals, assists and points in a season. With 32 goals and 76 points in 81 games, he was just one point behind Mike Modano, the star center of the Dallas Stars. Arnott was at the end of the season to a free-agent. Since he did not number 2 would be behind Modano, he signed a five- year contract for 4.5 million U.S. dollars per year for the Nashville Predators. In the 2006/07 season he played most of the time with Steve Sullivan in the second row.
