Jason B. Brown

Jason Brevoort Brown ( born February 26, 1839 in Dillsboro, Dearborn County, Indiana, † March 10, 1898 in Seymour, Indiana ) was an American politician. Between 1889 and 1895 he represented the State of Indiana in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Jason Brown attended the common schools and the Wilmington Academy. After a subsequent study of law and its made ​​in 1860 admitted to the bar he began to work in Brownstown in this profession. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career. Between 1862 and 1866 he was a member of the House of Representatives of Indiana; in 1870 he was a member of the State Senate. After that, he was 1873-1875, the Executive Officer ( Secretary ) in the Wyoming Territory.

After returning to Indiana, he settled in Seymour. In 1880 to 1883 he sat again in the state Senate. In the congressional elections of 1888, Brown was the third electoral district of Indiana in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Jonas G. Howard on March 4, 1889. After two re- election he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1895 three legislative periods. Since 1893 he was Chairman of the Election Committee.

1894 Brown was not nominated by his party for re-election. In the following years he practiced as a lawyer in Seymour again. There he is on March 10, 1898 and passed away.
