Jason Holland

Jason Holland ( born April 30, 1976 in Morinville, Alberta ) is a retired German - Canadian professional ice hockey player who played for the DEG Metro Stars in the German Ice Hockey League.

Career

Jason Holland began his career with the Kamloops Blazers in the Canadian Junior Football League WHL and was finally selected during the NHL Entry Draft in 1994 by the New York Islanders in the second round of the 38th. In both 1994 and 1995 won the defender with the Blazers the WHL Championship, the Ed Chynoweth Cup and the Memorial Cup, the championship of the Canadian Hockey League umbrella organization. 1996 Holland was appointed to the Executive of the Canadian junior national team, with whom he won the Junior World Championship in 1996 in Boston.

Jason Holland remained until 1996 as a junior player at the Blazers before he signed his first professional contract with the Islanders before the 1996/97 season. According to the company, it was Holland's " greatest moment in [ his ] career when [ he ] was allowed to accumulate for the first time for the Islanders. " However, most games completed the Canadians for the farm team of the Islanders, the Kentucky Thoroughblades, in the American Hockey League. In the season 1997/98 the right shooter played eight times for the Islanders, but was transferred during the season along with Paul Kruse to the Buffalo Sabres, who sent in return, Jason Dawe to New York.

The Sabres Jason Holland finally came to an additional 13 NHL games, but was used mostly in the AHL with the Rochester Americans. As of 2001 the defender was with the Los Angeles Kings under contract and could in the 2003/04 season deny a complete NHL season for the first time. During the lockout in the 2004 /05 Holland played for a short time in Italy at the HC Alleghe before he signed a contract in Ingolstadt for the 2005/06 season. In the following years he was four years at the Ingolstadt based in the squad, before he moved to league rivals DEG Metro Stars in the summer of 2009. In 2012, he finished his career.

Internationally

Since his grandfather lived for many years in Nuremberg and the German nationality had got Jason Holland 2006 also a German passport. In 2007, he was first appointed to the Germany squad.

During the World Cup 2008 on May 7, known in the 4-2 win against Slovakia that Jason Holland was not eligible to play in the tournament for the German national team. In 1996 he took part in the U20 World Championships for Canada. Therefore, he had four instead of as in his case, only three years in a row in Germany need to be active as a player. Jason Holland was immediately expelled from the tournament. The previous results of the German national team were nevertheless confirmed at an extraordinary meeting of the Tournament Director.
