Jason Andre Davis Roberts MBE ( born January 25, 1978 in Park Royal, London ) is a Grenadian football player.

Career

Association

Like his uncle Cyrille Regis Roberts began his career at FC Hayes. From Wolverhampton Wanderers, he was loaned out to Torquay United and Bristol City.

After his move to Bristol Rovers him his breakthrough. With 22 goals in the season 1999/2000 he drew attention to himself and was committed from West Bromwich Albion. There he was able to establish quickly and formed a successful strike partnership with Lee Hughes, the shot the club in the relegation games in which the team but could not prevail. The following year, Roberts was suffering from a foot injury that only 12 appearances in the season allowed him, in which he scored seven goals.

Although fully restored health, Roberts reach his first season in the Premier League just three goals in 31 games. Therefore, he was loaned the following season at the club Portsmouth.

2004 Roberts was sold for £ 2 million to the then second division club Wigan Athletic. Behind the teammate Nathan Ellington, he finished second in the scoring charts. This is the direct promotion to the Premier League. With a penalty against Sunderland Roberts reached on 27 August 2005, the first Erstligator the club's history.

In summer 2006, Roberts signed a four year contract with Blackburn Rovers, which it paid £ 3 million to Wigan.

National

Roberts played until 2008 for Grenada. In qualifying for the FIFA World Cup in 2006, he failed with his team in the second qualifying round of the U.S..
