Jasper County (Indiana)

Jasper County is a county located in the state of Indiana in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Rensselaer.

Geography

The County is located in northwestern Indiana, about 50 km from Lake Michigan to the west is about 35 km from Illinois, in the north away and has an area of ​​1454 square kilometers, of which four square kilometers of water surface. History

Jasper County was formed on February 7, 1835 from parts of Warren County and White County. It was named for Sergeant Jasper, who was killed at the Battle of Savannah.
