Jasper County (Mississippi)

The Jasper County is a county located in the U.S. state of Mississippi. The Management seats ( County Seat) are Bay Springs and Paulding. Thus, the Jasper County is one of ten counties in Mississippi that have two county administrations.

Geography

The County is located in the central south east of the Mississippi, is in the east just 60 km from Alabama and has an area of 1755 square kilometers, of which four square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered by the following counties:

History

The Jasper County was formed on December 23, 1833 from the Mobile District. It was named for William Jasper, a soldier and hero of the American Revolutionary War.
