The Jasper County is a county located in the U.S. state of Missouri. In 2010, the County had 117 404 inhabitants and a population density of 70.9 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Carthage. Largest city of the county is Joplin.
Geography
The County is located in southwest Missouri and is bordered to the west by Kansas. According to United States Census Bureau, it has distributed a total area of 1661 square kilometers, which is 1657 km ² on land and 4 km ² water surface (0.25 %). History
The county was founded in January 29, 1841 from parts of the Missouri Territory, and after a hero of the American Revolutionary War, Sergeant William Jasper, named.
