Jatiya Party

The Jatiya Party ( Bengali: জাতীয় পার্টি ) is a political party in Bangladesh.

History

The party was founded on January 1, 1986 by former President Hussain Muhammad Ershad and dictator. In the former parliamentary elections in 1986, it was due to electoral fraud and the boycott by the two largest parties in the country the strongest representation with an absolute majority. After the political overthrow of Ershads and the re-establishment of parliamentary democracy in Bangladesh Jatiya Party had suffered heavy losses and is one of the smaller parties. Nevertheless, she was repeatedly involved alternately in a row as a coalition partner of the two major parties in power.

In 1997, a part of the party broke away under the leadership of the minister Anwar Hossain Manju and has since formed the Jatiya Party ( Manju ). In 2001 there was another spin-off under the leadership of Naziur Rahman and Kazi Firoz Rashid Manjur which occurs since the Jatiya Party ( Naziur - Firoz ).

Orientation

Hussain Muhammad Ershad is still president of the party. It is considered a conservative and military related parties.
