Javad Khan

Javad Khan Qajar Ziyad oghlu († January 1804 ) was a member of the imperial Qajar tribe, Great Khan of Ganja Khanate.

During the Russo- Persian War (1804-1813) to Javad Khan defied the only Khan Khanate of Northwest Persia against the Russian Tsar. Javad Khan moved several times against him to battle. In January 1804 Javad Khan was executed after fierce fighting in his stronghold along with his sons by decapitation.

Regency

During the reign of Khan Javad In 1785, the economic and political importance of the Khanate grew. Soon it led an independent foreign policy, which was sometimes adapted to the Persian. The Khan ran his own coin in Ganja.

In Azerbaijan, Javad Khan is seen as a folk hero.

Movies

During the Soviet period, there was a movie about Javad Khan and in 2008 a film was made with the name Cavad Xan.
