Javelin (rocket)

The four-stage sounding rocket Argo D- 4 was developed for the U.S. Air Force as a replacement for the Argo E-5 (Jason ) and was named Javelin. Just as Jason was used for radiation measurement by atomic bomb explosions at high altitudes. The use of height was increased compared to Jason about 300 km to 1100 km.

It was 1959-1976 started 82 times.

Specifications

The first stage was taken over by the Honest John rocket. The second and third stages were each Nike stages. The fourth and fifth stage of Jason was replaced by an Altair X -248 from the Vanguard project.
