Javier Colon

Javier Colon ( born April 29, 1978 in Hartford, Connecticut) is an American R & B and soul singer. He won in 2011 the first season of The Voice.

Life

Javier Colon is paternal and maternal Dominican Puerto Rican descent. He went to the Frank Scott Bunnell High School in Stratford, Connecticut, where he began to write songs. He then earned a degree at the University of Hartford.

Career

Musical beginnings

While studying Colon worked as a singer in the band Soul EmcQ. When the band opened a show for the Soul Soul Trio Live, the guitarist of the trio of colon singing was impressed and beat him before his friend Derek Trucks, who was looking for a singer for his band, The Derek Trucks Band at the time. After his studies he joined the band in August 2000. After he toured for nearly two years with the band, he left her in April 2002 to launch a solo career.

In 2003 he published at Capitol Records released his debut album with the name Javier. The album and the first single Crazy were moderately successful. His second studio album, Left of Center, however, could hardly attract attention and not even reached the Billboard 200 Self employed, he published in 2010 his third album, The Extended Play The Truth - Acoustic.

Breakthrough with The Voice

In 2011 he took part in the American version of The Voice, in which he also won. His winning single Stitch by Stitch was produced by Rodney " Darkchild " Jerkins and made it to the Top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the same year he published at Universal Republic Records his third album, Come Through for You. Among other artists like Natasha Bedingfield or Adam Levine, who incidentally was the colon coach in the talent show The Voice to listen to the album. Six months later, Colon announced the farewell at the record company.
