The Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium (also known as " Kaloor International Stadium ") is a multi-purpose stadium in the southern Indian city of Kochi, Kerala.

History

The stadium was opened in 1996 and offers 60,000 seats. Thus, it is named after the Yuba Bharati Krirangan ( 120,000 seats), the Ranji Stadium ( 93,000 seats) and the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi ( 75,000 seats), the fourth largest Indian Stadium. His name has the sports venue of Jawaharlal Nehru; his character first Prime Minister of India ( 1947-1964 ). Originally built as a football stadium, international cricket matches (ODI ) taking place today. But also, inter alia, Exhibitions, film screenings, or political events are held on the extensive grounds. The first major event was the Nehru Cup 1997, organized by the Indian Football Association soccer tournament.
