Jawischowitz

The German concentration camp Jawischowitz in today Brzeszcze, district Jawiszowice, was a satellite camp of KZ Auschwitz. This sub-camp prepared by August 15, 1942 to January 19, 1945 his prisoners to work in the mine Brzeszcze - Jawischowitz for coal production as well as for building over days. The company was part of the kingdom of Hermann Göring. The mine was formerly among other owner Andreas shafts.

The German journalist and Interbrigadist Kurt Julius Goldstein was from 1942 to 1945 the only Jewish Kapo in the camp Jawischowitz.

Selections repeatedly led to the removal of weakened prisoners in the main camp. This was part of the SS policy extermination through work. This alone should have been murdered over 1,800 prisoners.
