Jaxu

Jaxu is a commune of 165 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Pyrénées- Atlantiques Aquitaine the region. It belongs to the canton of Saint -Jean -Pied -de-Port and the community association Garazi - baigorri. The inhabitants call themselves Jatsuar.

Geography

The village Jaxu in the Pays de Cize in the Basque province of Lower Navarre is located in the French Pyrenees. By Jaxu D22 is connected to the network of roads department. Former place names were Jacsu, Jassu ( both around 1249 ), Jadssu " ( 1347 ) and Jaxou (1703).
