Jay Carney

James Carney ( May 22nd, 1965 in Washington, DC) since 11 February 2011, the press secretary of the White House under the presidency of Barack Obama. His predecessor, Robert Gibbs.

Carney studied at Yale University, where he received in 1987 in Eastern European studies his Bachelor of Arts (BA). Later, he was working for Time Magazine and served among other things as a correspondent in Moscow. During the administration of President George W. Bush, he was only 2003-2005 deputy head and then from 2005 to 2008 director of the Washington office of Time Magazine. Previously, he had been since 1993 as a correspondent in Washington, DC reported.

In December 2008, Carney ended his career as a journalist and became speaker in January 2009 ( Director of Communications ) by Vice President Joe Biden. A post he held until his appointment as press secretary of the White House January 2011.

Carney is married. His wife works for the television and radio network ABC.
