Jay Dardenne

John Leigh " Jay" Dardenne, Jr. ( born February 6, 1954 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana) is an American politician. Since 2010 he has been Vice- Governor of the State of Louisiana.

Career

Jay Dardenne attended Baton Rouge High School and studied at Louisiana State University journalism afterwards. After a subsequent law degree from the same university in 1979 and was admitted to his lawyer, he began to work in this profession. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Republican Party launched a political career. In 1987, he ran unsuccessfully for the Senate nor of Louisiana. From 1989 to 1991 he sat in the City Council of Baton Rouge. Between 1992 and 2006 he was a member of the State Senate. Then he held until 2010, the Office of the Secretary of State of Louisiana.

2010 Dardenne was elected in a special election for lieutenant governor of his state. A year later it was confirmed at the regular election on the side of Bobby Jindal. He is assistant to the governor. Dardenne is a member of several organizations and associations. With his wife, Catherine, he has two children.
