Jay David Bolter

Jay David Bolter ( born August 17, 1951) is one of the foremost thought leaders on the theory of electronic writing and hypertext next to Vannevar Bush, Ted Nelson and Jakob Nielsen.

Life

Jay David Bolter doctorate in 1977 ( Ph.D. in Classics ) and acquired in 1978 a master's degree in Computer Science (MS ), both at the University of North Carolina.

Bolter research on the cultural and social importance of the computer ( Turing 's Man, 1984) and hypertext ( Writing Space, 1991):

His current areas of interest are in the range of annotation and the remediation ( remediation, 2000).

Together with Michael Joyce, he developed the hypertext system Space Story.
