Jay M. Cohen

Jay M. Cohen (* in New York ) is a retired American officer in the U.S. Navy, who also worked as a government official later. From 10 August 2006 to the end of the term of President George W. Bush in January 2009, he assumed the office of Secretary of State for Science and Technology ( Under Secretary of Homeland Security for Science and Technology) in the Department of Homeland Security.

Cohen joined the U.S. Navy in 1968 after the United States Naval Academy. He was there last Rear Admiral (Rear Admiral ) in the service position Chief of Naval Research. In February 2006, he converted to retirement; a few months later he was appointed by President Bush as Secretary of State under Secretary Michael Chertoff. After leaving government service he became a member of the Board of Directors of the Chertoff Group, a company founded by former Secretary Chertoff consultant company.
