Jay McInerney
John Barrett McInerney Jr. ( born January 13, 1955 in Hartford, Connecticut) is an American writer.
Life
McInerney grew up in London, Vancouver, Tokyo and New York City. He is divorced three times and has two children. His debut novel A strong finish captured the zeitgeist of the 1980s and quickly became a cult book. It was filmed in 1988 with Michael J. Fox in the lead role.
With Bret Easton Ellis McInerney made in the 80 years the most prominent part of the literary Brat Pack. 2005 McInerney had a cameo appearance in Ellis novel Lunar Park. Ellis was in 1999 a figure from Roman McInerneys I now recur in his novel Glamorama.
The character of Eli Cash, played by Owen Wilson in the feature film The Royal Tenenbaums is loosely based on McInerney.
