Jay O'Brien

Jay James O'Brien (born 22 February 1883 in New York; † April 5, 1940 in Palm Beach ) was an American bobsledder.

O'Brien first participated with 44 years at the 1928 Olympics in St. Moritz, where he won the silver medal in Fünferbob. At the 1932 Olympic Games in Lake Placid, he won the gold medal with the U.S. Bobsled. With this success at the age of 48 years and 357 days he was until 2006 the oldest Olympic champion in the history of the Olympic Winter Games. At the Winter Games in 1932, he was also leader of the U.S. bobsled team, the United States Olympic Bobsled Committee. He died in 1940 of a heart attack.
