Jay Ryan (actor)

Jay Ryan ( born August 29, 1981 in Auckland, New Zealand as Jay Bunyan ) is a New Zealand actor.

Life and career

He started his acting career under his birth name Jay Bunyan as Glen in Scallywag Pirates as well as guest roles in The Young Hercules and Xena - Warrior Princess. After that he was seen in some episodes of The Tribe and Being Eve. His breakthrough came in Australia with the role of Jack Scully in the soap opera Neighbours which he held from 2002 to 2005. In 2003 he was in the Disney Channel Original Movie Enchanted! seen as Charles.

When he auditioned in Los Angeles for the role, his last name was suggested to him to change, as Bunyan sounds too much like the English word for bale.

From 2007 to 2009 he played the Seaman Billy " Spider" Webb in the Australian drama television series Sea Patrol. After he had left the show, he got the lead role of Kevin in the New Zealand series Go Girls, in which he can be seen since 2009. In 2010 he had a guest role in Legend of the Seeker - The Sword of Truth and 2011 in Terra Nova. 2010 Ryan has also been seen in a supporting role in the television series Offspring.

In March 2012 he was given the male lead role of Vincent Keller in The CW TV series Beauty and the Beast, whose premiere was held on 11 October 2012.

Private

Since March 2013 Jay Ryan and his partner, Dianna Fuemana are parents of a daughter.
