Jean Asselborn

Jean Asselborn (* April 27, 1949 in Stone Fort, Luxembourg ) is a Luxembourgian politician. He is a member of the Socialist Lëtzebuerger Esch Arbechterpartei (LSAP ). Since 30 July 2004, it is Luxembourg's Foreign Minister, until December 2013, he was also Deputy Prime Minister of Luxembourg.

Political career

Jean Asselborn left school in 1967 and began his career as an employee of Uniroyal. He was involved in the union movement and became the representative of the youth department of the Luxembourg Workers Association, the predecessor of today's Onofhängegen union Bonds Luxemburg selected.

In 1968, Jean Asselborn municipality employee of the City of Luxembourg, but moved in 1969 back to stone fort to there as well to work as an employee of the municipality. 1976 visited Jean Asselborn night classes and received his diplôme de fin d' études secondaires (equivalent to the German Abitur ) of the Atheneum Luxembourg. Private

Jean Asselborn is married to Sylvie Huber since 1980. They have two daughters, Anne, born in 1982, and Julie, born in 1987.

Honors

For his outstanding contributions to the German -Luxembourg relations and the close European political cooperation between Germany and Luxembourg, he was awarded on 14 December 2010 with the Grand Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
