Jean Charles Abbatucci

Jean Charles Abbatucci (* November 15, 1771 in Zicavo ( Corsica), † December 2, 1796 in Hüningen (Alsace ) ) was a French general.

Life

Jean Charles Abbatucci came from a major Corsican family; He was the son of the Corsican General Jacques Pierre Abbatucci and Mary Angéla Costa. Abbatucci finished his education in 1788 at the Military Academy at Metz and was lieutenant of the Second Artillery Regiment. After three years, joined the military service in the newly established Horse Artillery. At the beginning of the campaign of 1792 he was a captain of artillery in the Army of the Rhine, but distinguished himself so that he was promoted to lieutenant colonel in 1792 end. It was in December 1793 adjutant of Jean- Charles Pichegru and fought in 1794 in Holland.
