Jean d'Estrées

Jean d' Estrées (* 1666 in Paris, † March 3, 1718 ) was a French archbishop of Cambrai and politicians.

D' Estrées was the nephew of César d' Estrées, the Cardinal Bishop of Albano; his younger brother was Victor- Marie d' Estrées, a later peer of France.

With 27 years of negotiated d' Estrées in 1692 at the Portuguese court in Lisbon with Peter II over its neutrality in the Palatinate War of Succession. When he had finished these diplomatic mission successfully, he returned to Paris, where he became in 1698 the " Dr. theol. " doctorate.

1703 Estrées was entrusted with another important mission at the Spanish court in Madrid in King Philip V. He initially worked with his uncle César together, he then replaced as an envoy.

1711 was elected to succeed the late Nicolas Boileau ( armchair 1) d' Estrées by the Académie française. After his death, Marc René d' Argenson statesman took his place.
