Jean de Lastic

Fra ' Jean de Lastic Bompar, also Ioannes Lasticensis, John de Lastico, (* 1371 in Auvergne, † May 19, 1454 ) was from November 6, 1437 until his death in 1454 the 36th Grand Master of the Knights Hospitaller.

He was inducted into the Order before 1390 and spent the first years of the Order in Rhodes and priories in the Auvergne, before he became Grand Prior of the tongue of Auvergne, based in Bourganeuf. Under him there, done massive fortress expansions.

Jean was elected in 1437 in the absence of the Grand Master, and only reached 1438 Rhodes.

In the years 1440 and 1444 attacked naval units of the Egyptian Mamluk sultan Dschaqmaq Rhodes, but both times could be averted. Then Jean led massive reinforcements of the fortifications in the harbor of Rhodes and the construction of the fortress of St. Nicolas.

Under Jean de Lastic the construction of a new hospital began. With the new building was also a renewal of nursing regulations.
