Jean De Latre

Jean De Latre (also: Delatre or Delattre, called Petitjean, * about 1505 probably in Flanders; † August 31, 1569 in Utrecht) was a Flemish conductor and composer.

In 1544, De Latre was put in charge of the chapel of the Church of St. Martin in Liège. In the same year he also received the Kapellmeister at the court of the Bishop of Liège George of Austria ( until 1557). 1563 he took a job in Amersfoort, went back a year later returned to the Liege St. Martin Church, but was released there in 1565. Then drew De Latre to Utrecht, where he worked until his death.

From him several vocal works have been preserved, including 25 polyphonic lamentations and 30 four-part chansons.
