Jean Filliozat

Jean Filliozat (* November 4, 1906 in Paris, † October 27, 1982 ) was a French physician and Indologist.

Life and work

He studied medicine ( ophthalmology ) and was from 1930 to 1947 doctor. In addition, he learned Sanskrit, Pali, Tibetan and Tamil. He specialized primarily on the history of Indian medicine, but also dealt with other subjects. In one of his works he examined the symbolism of Phnom Bakheng in Cambodia.
