Jean Foyer

Jean Foyer ( * April 27, 1921 in Contigné, Maine -et -Loire; † 4 October 2008 in Paris ) was a French politician.

Life

After school he studied law and was appointed professor of civil law later.

Foyer was first elected on March 7, 1959, deputies of the National Assembly and represented there at first until 6 January 1963, the department of Maine -et -Loire for the Union pour la Nouvelle République ( UNR ).

On April 16, 1962 Foyer of Prime Minister Georges Pompidou was appointed Minister of Justice in the government and held that office until April 6, 1967.

Previously, he was on 5 March 1967, in turn, deputy of the National Assembly and represented there until May 14, 1988, in turn, the department of Maine -et -Loire for the UNR, then after June 1968, the Union pour la défense de la République and the Union of Démocrates pour la République (UDR ) and from 1976 for the Rassemblement pour la République (RPR ).

On July 6, 1972 Prime Minister Pierre Messmer appointed him as Minister of Public Health in the Cabinet, where he remained until his replacement by Michel Poniatowski on 6 April 1973.

Later foyer member of the Académie des sciences morales et politiques.
