Jean-Henri Gourgaud

Dugazon (Jean -Henry Gourgaud * November 15, 1743 in Marseille, † 1809) was a French actor.

Life

The son of actor Dugazon père (Pierre -Antoine Gourgaud ) debuted in 1770 at the Comédie Française, where he became one of the most important comic actor soon. He was very popular with the public and in 1772 societaire of the house. As a supporter of the French Revolution he followed François -Joseph Talma at the newly founded Théâtre de la République.

After the closure of the house, he found an engagement at the Theatre Feydeau until he returned there in 1799 after the restoration of the Comédie Française. He was also a professor of declamation at the Conservatoire de Paris. In 1807 he retired from acting operation. Dugazon wrote three comedies, which were performed at the Théâtre de la République.

Dugazon was married to his first marriage to actress and dancer Louise - Rosalie Lefebvre. Her son was the composer Gustave Dugazon. Dugazons older sister was the actress Marie Rose Gourgaud, who was married to the dancer Angelo Vestris.
