Jean-Luc Fournier

Jean -Luc Fournier ( born September 23, 1956 in Nendaz ) is a retired Swiss ski racer. He specializes in the disciplines of giant slalom and slalom.

Biography

Fournier came first in the European Cup used and occupied in the 1976/77 season each took third place in the overall standings and in the giant slalom standings. The first points in the World Cup he won on January 2, 1977 as a tenth of the giant slalom in Ebnat- Kappel. Almost a year later, on 10 December 1977 he succeeded to the third place in Val d'Isere, the first podium finish. With two more top-10 results resulted in the end of season 1977/78 the fifth place in the giant slalom standings. In the 1978 World Cup, he left in two races.

Fournier has established itself among the world leaders. After five further results in the top ten followed the end of the 1978/79 season again a third place. In contrast, remained in the season 1979/80 a fifth place the best result. At the 1980 Winter Olympics Fournier did not come beyond the 23 place in the slalom. Better for him was the 1980/81 season: Six times he classified among the top ten, including two more were third places. These services ranged again for the fifth in the giant slalom World Cup standings.

Although Fournier was unable to reach more podium finish in the 1980/81 season, but he remained five times in the top ten. In the 1982 World Cup he finished eighth of the giant slalom. His career ended Fournier in March 1982 after he had gone in Kranjska Gora, ranked 11th.
