Jean-Luc Mandaba

Jean -Luc Mandaba (* August 15, 1943, † 22 October 2000) was from 1993 to 1995 Prime Minister of the Central African Republic.

Political career

After the election of Ange-Félix Patassé against the former President André Kolingba he was on 25 October 1993 Prime Minister of a coalition government. He belonged to the party founded by Patassé 1979 Mouvement pour la Libération du Peuple Centrafricain at ( MPLC ) and was its vice-president. A new constitution adopted in 1994 strengthened the position of president at the expense of the Government. Faced with a threat of censure because of allegations that his government was corrupt and incompetent he resigned. On April 12, 1995, he left office.

In 1999 he participated in the founding of a small airline in the capital, Bangui. Shortly after his death under mysterious circumstances died on 12 November 2000, his son Hervé, with similar symptoms was observed. It has been suggested that both poisoned.
