Jean-Marc Gaillard
Jean -Marc Gaillard ( born October 7, 1980 in Annemasse, Haute -Savoie ) is a French cross-country skiers.
Life and career
His first international assignment had Gaillard. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2000 in Štrbské Pleso There, however, he could not place it in the front of the field and took over the 30 km classic, the 50th Place and on the 10 km freestyle 54th place. In the 2001 /02 season, he raced for the first time in the Cross Country World Cup. At the World Cup in Nove Mesto, he managed to fight with space 24 through the 10 km freestyle his first World Cup points. In the following years he placed most far out of World Cup points. Nevertheless, he was nominated for the Nordic World Ski Championships 2005 in Oberstdorf. When victory of his compatriot Vincent Vittoz in the pursuit competition he finished 47th. Only in the 2005/06 season succeeded Gaillard, continuously to achieve results in the top 30 athletes. His best result of the season he reached 14th place on 15 km classic in Davos. These good results secured him a place in the French national team at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. There he could make with eleventh place on the 50 km freestyle in for a surprise. At the end of the season 2006/ 07 he was able to record the basis of three places in the top ten in World Cup competitions on the 16th place in the World Cup distance and the 32 place in the overall World Cup.
In February 2008, Gaillard won after a rather mixed season surprising in 11.5 km freestyle race in Liberec and was thus able to achieve his first World Cup victory.
