Jean-Max Bellerive

Joseph Jean -Max Bellerive (born 1958 in Port -au -Prince ) is a Haitian politician and was Prime Minister from 2009 to 2011.

Biography

The son of a respected physician and senior staff member of the World Health Organization studied post-school at universities in Switzerland, France and Belgium and graduated with a degree in political science and international relations from before he in 1986 shortly before the overthrow of President Jean- Claude Duvalier returned to Haiti.

Initially he worked in the private sector and coordinator of " L' Acquinoise ", one financed by the European Union cooperative fishery in the department of Sud. In 1988 he was an employee at the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Rural Communities and was there until 1990, Deputy Head of the organization and planning service with the rank of Director-General.

Subsequently, he founded with some friends Sibel Consult, an agency for the management and preparation of development projects. With this company he has worked with numerous public institutions such as the Secretariat for Tourism, the National Port Authority ( APN), the People's Bank of Haiti (BPH), the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP ) and the Ministry of Haitians living abroad. In addition, there was a close collaboration with leading companies in the country such as Terminal Varreux, Shodecosa, ELF Haiti, pre et fils, Radio Liberté, Haitel, Terrabus, TECINA SA and S. A. Meditel.

After a short period as 1999 to 2000 as head of the polling station for the department of Ouest in the Provisional Electoral Council ( Conseil électoral provisoire ) he was between March 2001 and March 2002, Chief of Cabinet of Prime Minister Jean Marie Chérestal. After a subsequent work as a Senior Technical Advisor of Prime Minister Yvon Neptune, he was from March 2004 to June 2006 Coordinator of the Working Group on doe coordination and monitoring of public policies (CCS ) in the office of Prime Minister Gérard Latortue.

In September 2008, he Premier Minister Michèle Pierre -Louis finally convened for the first time in a cabinet, in which he was Minister of Planning and internal cooperation.

After the dismissal of Prime Minister Pierre -Louis by a no-confidence vote on 30 October 2009 Bellerive became its successor as Prime Minister on 11 November 2009.

After the proclamation of a state of emergency after the earthquake in January 2010, he was responsible for the coordination of relief and the recovery of the victim.
